105. [Jazz & Song] Dylan, Bob. (b. 1941).
"Long-distance Operator" - Original Drawings and Autograph Lyrics from the recording of the Basement Tapes

Important and extremely rare early original drawings by the legendary singer-songwriter, who has penned a series of three captioned drawings on the blank side of a Columbia Records Handelok record bag during the historic "Basement Tapes" recording sessions at Big Pink, and including a variation of the opening of the song "Long Distance Operator."  Obtained by Bonnie Diamond, then girlfriend of Levon Helm (drummer and vocalist of The Band), West Saugerties, NY, Summer 1967, and with her autograph shopping list to the verso of the bag. 8 x 10.5 inches. Rear Columbia logo panel with some rears, a few small stains, overall in very fine condition. 174. [History & Culture] Oakley, Annie. (1860 - 1926).
Original Photograph

Cabinet card photograph with facsimile signature of the greatest of all female sharpshooters, perhaps the greatest regardless of gender, a legend in her own time, who toured for many years with William Cody's Wild West Show. Her many feats astound merely in their retelling, such as splitting the thin edge of a playing card at 90 feet, then hitting it five or six more times before it hit the ground.  Cabinet card with recto imprint of photographer Stacy of Brooklyn, showing Oakley posed with a display of shooting medals at her feet, a single shot Stevens rifle held over her shoulder and a shotgun leaning against the wall to her left.  Original studio mount.  Pinhole to upper edge, bottom edge of mount trimmed, image toned and scuffed, else fine.  4 x 6 inches (10.2 x 15.3 cm.).  Read More...

Original Photograph

Original photograph of the Yiddish author and playwright, ca. 1900. Written in pencil to the verso, a previous owner has amusingly identified him as "Jewish Mark Twain".  In fine condition.  6 x 8.2 inches (15.2 x 20.6 cm.). Read More...
